This small side table (mesa de arrimo) is a good example of Caracas refined cabinetmaking of neoclassical taste in the late 1700s and early 1800s. The design is masterful in its elegant simplicity; a serpentine top with rounded edges, a drawer at the front; the undulating lines in the skirt provide a sense of gracefulness. The slender turned legs are detachable to ease transportation.
