Extended Info

Brad Kahlhamer was born in Tucson, AZ to American Indian parents but adopted and raised by German-American parents. This ambiguous Indian background informs his work in which he often draws imagery and icons from various tribes around the country.  These particular paintings are layered with landscapes and figures in a washy application then densely populated with additional elements including animals and skulls in a more linear fashion. His personal style reflects influences of abstract expressionism, street art, and a post-punk aesthetic informed by his years of living and working in New York.
