A red, eight-feathered motif swirls in each block. Extensive quilting covers the background and borders and creates a plant between each of the plumes. Family tradition identifies the maker as Sally Rivers, who lived on a farm outside Thomasville, Alabama, during the Civil War. The quilt was passed down in the family until given to the museum last year. It joins other Princess Feather quilts in the collection, some of which are illustrated nearby.
