This single image is composed of two parts of painted linen that fit together.  There are five grotesque figures painted in red that seem to hover in space.  The watery effect of the red paint makes it look like the people are bloody and disfigured.  The five people violently grab and bite at each other and their faces wince in anguish.  All the figures are painted on a dark red background that does not indicate any conventional space, but more of a theatrical backdrop where they stand out in dramatic relief, due to the density of the color.

Yang Shaobin was born in 1963 in Tangshan in the Hebei province of China. He studied at the Art Department of the Hebei Polytechnic School and graduated in 1983.
