A multitude of printed cottons are transformed into this whimsical composition of flowers, plants, and ordinary and exotic creatures. Small vases improbably hold towering floral arrangements, while other bouquets are tied with a bow knot. The embroiderer “paints” with fabric, ingeniously matching the pattern of a textile to its placement in each motif. Several of the printed cotton designs, such as the undulating flowering vine or floral patterns against red ground, are English adaptations of Indian textiles.
