About 1750
Mexico
Iron, silver
Gift of Alex Cohen, 1981.180 A-B

It's rare to find a matching pair of Mexican cast-iron stirrups from the 1700s - and even rarer to find each stirrup separately, as was the case with this pair. The arabesque floral and tendril motifs show the influence of Spanish horse gear.
