Amulet Case (Pulgam) Korea 1200s-1300s, Goryeo dynasty Silver-plated bronze Gift of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Bunker 1980.129 The Goryeo period (918-1392) was one of fervent Buddhist belief and this small silver case probably contained a charm such as a miniature Buddha or written prayer. The lid opens by means of an ingenious swinging pin, riveted in place by tiny silver chrysanthemums. The ring on top suggests that this case once was used as a pendant.
