[1] Bertram Ashburnham, 4th Earl of Ashburnham [1797-1878], Ashburnham Place; by inheritance to his son, Bertram Ashburnham, 5th Earl of Ashburnham [1840-1913], Ashburnham Place; by inheritance to his daughter, Lady Mary Catherine Charlotte Ashburnham [1890-1953]; (Ashburnham sale, Sotheby’s, London, 24 June 1953, no. 57, as by Isenbrandt); H. Baer.[2] (David M. Koetser Gallery, New York); sold to Samuel H. Kress [1863-1955] on 20 January 1954; Gifted to the Denver Art Museum, 1961 [1] Does not appear to be included in William II sale, de Vries, The Hague, 12 20 August 1850. Previously thought to be no. 35 or no. 190, but these are paintings by Mabuse and Titian respectively. [2] Baer as buyer according to printed price list bound with catalogue.
