Explore Dance & Art with Creative-in-Residence Laura Ann Samuelson

Laura Ann Samuelson, a choreographer, dancer, and teacher of performance, is the DAM’s current creative-in-residence. Our creative-in-residence program showcases local creatives working across a range of disciplines and promotes active opportunities for our visitors to actively participate in the creative process of our residents.

She makes dances that investigate how human states of being and their external environments bump up against, converge, and transform one another. She produces original work under the name Hoarded Stuff Performance and has collaborated with groups such as Joanna and the Agitators, square product theatre, Buntport Theater Company, and Screw Tooth Theater Company. Her work has been performed in alternative venues such as swimming pools, warehouse spaces, art galleries, and loading docks.

A three-time recipient of the Encore! Performance Award at the Boulder International Fringe Festival, Laura Ann has shown her work in Colorado, California, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Germany, Sweden, and France. She was named one of Colorado's most creative minds in Susan Froyd's 100 Colorado Creatives Series in Denver's Westword (2014). She has been an artist-in-residence at the Colorado Conservatory of Dance, Dance Initiative (Carbondale, CO) and at SKOGEN arts (Gothenburg, Sweden).

Visit the museum in July and August and join Laura Ann as she creates unexpected opportunities for visitors to discover new ways of perceiving.
