The 38th annual Collectors' Choice, the Denver Art Museum's elegant black-tie fundraising gala, celebrated the Honorable John W. Hickenlooper, Governor of Colorado, for his leadership and commitment to the Denver Art Museum and his vision and advocacy for vibrant arts communities in Denver and across the state.
Held Thursday, December 6, at the Hyatt Regency Denver’s beautiful Capitol Ballroom, the evening paid tribute to the Governor’s love of music with a range of inspiring acts, including the Montbello Drumline greeting guests at the entrance, New Hope Baptist Church’s moving rendition of “America the Beautiful,” and a surprise performance by The Avett Brothers during the dinner program.
Director Christoph Heinrich and Chairman of the Board Lanny Martin offered a toast of a Wynkoop beer, a nod to the Governor’s early days at the renowned brewery. A seasonal Colorado-inspired menu, paired with décor inspired by the beauty of the mountains and the elegance of a state dinner, created a warm and intimate setting for this always-memorable affair.
The Denver Art Museum would like to thank everyone who supported Collectors’ Choice 38. The event raised over $765,000 to support the museum’s exhibitions and programming.
