The Denver Art Museum (DAM) today announced that discounted general museum admission will now be offered to Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients. In partnership with Denver Human Services (DHS), SNAP cardholders will now be able to purchase $1 per person general museum admission for up to 10 people total when they show their valid SNAP debit card at the welcome desk, offering greater access to the arts to the Denver community at large.
The DAM joins five other metro Denver cultural institutions offering a discount to SNAP recipients, including Children’s Museum of Denver, Denver Botanic Gardens, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Denver Zoo and History Colorado Center. Also joining the program are Butterfly Pavilion and Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum.
“We are glad to join in this program that allows for greater museum access to people of all ages,” said Christoph Heinrich, Frederick and Jan Mayer Director of the DAM. “Our Free for Kids program currently provides free general admission to children 18 and younger every day, and this program allows us to even further expand public access to art and creativity resources.”
While the offer will enable access to tens of thousands of Colorado visitors eligible for SNAP assistance to the museum, this discount cannot be combined with other discounts and does not include special ticketed museum exhibitions. SNAP discounted tickets must be purchased in-person at the museum.
