A day in the life of museum security at the DAM.

Museum Career—Security

Security officers at the Denver Art Museum discuss their varied backgrounds, what a typical day on the job is like, and why they love working at the museum. Officers also reveal what it is like to protect priceless works of art while ensuring visitors still enjoy the pieces. Additionally, Director of Protective and Facility Services, Tony Fortunato, reveals the many aspects of the museum he cares for as head of the department.

Kristina Mahoney is the manager of teacher and school outreach programs in the department of learning and engagement at the Denver Art Museum. Kristina has been at the DAM since 2010 and her favorite artwork (but who can really choose just one?!) that has been on view here is Still Men Out There, Bjorn Melhus. On a walk-through of the museum, she is always sure to stop by the panoramic window on level seven in the North Building–best view in the museum!
