One of the Denver Art Museum’s (DAM) longest-running events, the 27th Annual Friendship Powwow and American Indian Cultural Celebration will feature American Indian dancers, drum groups, working artists, hands-on activities, artist booths, and more. The DAM’s Friendship Powwow is a celebration of the vitality of American Indian cultures. The Gourd Dance will begin at 10 a.m. with the powwow grand entry at noon. More

The movement of artwork and artists, as well as the circulation of ideas and ideologies, shaped culture in Spanish America. A group of international scholars will assemble in Denver to explore topics related to artistic exchange, ranging from local interactions to global networks, and their influence on the art and architecture of the region. Organized by Jorge Rivas Perez, Frederick and Jan Mayer Curator of Spanish Colonial Art, Denver Art Museum.

The symposium will take place Friday 9:30 am-5:30 pm and Saturday 9:30 am-12:30 pm. More

Central City Opera

Inspired by Edward Hopper’s classic American paintings, this opera was written by contemporary composer John Musto and librettist Mark Campbell. The story reveals the hope, longing and love of characters in five Hopper paintings as they step out of their frames and come to life one night in 1932 New York.

This one-act opera will be performed in English by members of the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Artists Training Program. More

On Friday, February 5, 2016, join Design Council of the Denver Art Museum for Design After Dark | AMASS, Denver’s most dynamic and diverse celebration of design. The evening will begin at 7 p.m. with cocktails, food, entertainment, and a silent auction well into the night.

Ticket prices are $80 general; $65 Denver Art Museum / Design Council Members; $50 young professionals (ages 21–30). Advanced ticketing is required. This event is expected to sell out.

A limited amount of tickets will be offered at the door with a $20 increase per ticket. More
