Night at the Museums - Denver Arts Week 2016

Denver Arts Week (Nov. 4-12) is a celebration of the arts and culture in Denver. The cornerstone of the event is Night at the Museums, held on Saturday, November 5. A total of 14 museums in Denver will be open late with free general admission 5–10 pm.

At the DAM, visitors will be able to enjoy Glory of Venice and fun family activities throughout the museum. More

The Denver Art Museum (DAM) is proud to partner with the Americas Latino Eco Festival for the free, one-day Americas Latino Eco Festival Family Day designed to engage the community in creativity. The celebration is part of a three-day Denver-based Americas Latino Eco Festival, recognized as the largest multicultural event of its kind.

In addition to discussing environmental issues through art, the event aims to bring the issue to light with films, live performances, artist interactions, and activities for children. More

This program is made possible by a five-year gift from Scott Reiman and the Reiman Foundation, and a one-year grant from Kaiser Permanente Colorado. More

Film Premiere: China’s Great History as it is told by Two 18th Century Screens

Explore China’s past dynasties as it is revealed in two 18th century painted folding screens. Each was a major workshop commission, being painted with lacquer on lacquer, an extremely difficult artistic technique. As their stories are revealed in this premiere viewing of a 45-minute educational documentary, the hidden messages and ancient techniques used to create these beautiful works of art are revived. It has taken a team of collectors, expert researchers, translators and historians working together for several years to uncover some of their mysteries. More

One of the Denver Art Museum’s longest-running events, the 25th Annual Friendship Powwow and American Indian Cultural Celebration will feature American Indian dancers, drum groups, working artists, hands-on activities, vendors, and more. The DAM’s Friendship Powwow is a celebration of the vitality of American Indian cultures. Gourd dancing will begin at 10 a.m. with the powwow grand entry at noon. More

Summer is… brings the allure of a Colorado summer staple—campfires—to downtown Denver. Made from beetle-kill pine, recycled camping rope, and other recycled materials, these urban campfires offer the perfect place for rest and relaxation. Visitor-submitted story tags create a canopy of leaves, making Martin Plaza a great spot to enjoy the season.
