Family Backpack Activities at the Denver Art Museum

Family Backpacks

Trek through the galleries with a Family Backpack full with artmaking, games, and puzzles. Pick up a backpack at the Family Activity Cart in the Hamilton Building, level 1.

Available on weekends during the school year and weekdays during school breaks.

During the school year, backpacks for ages 3-5 are also available by request from the Studio on level 1 of the Hamilton Building.

Each backpack holds a different adventure! (Backpacks are available on a first come basis.)

Here are some examples of Family Backpack activities:

  • On the Trail—Explore daily life “on the trail” through games and activities in the Western American Art gallery. Help the cowboy move his herd of cattle, dress him in his cowboy duds, and even make a own bandana to take home. (Ages 3-5)
  • Hubble-Bubble, Dance Masters and Powdered Wigs: Minding Manners in 18th Century England—Head to the American & European galleries to meet the Radcliffe Family, learn about proper etiquette, and explore life in 18th Century England. Design period fashions and even listen to music in the gallery! (Ages 6-12)
