Jill Peters
- Keith Edmier, American, 1967-
- Born: Chicago, IL
- Work Locations: New York
Childhood memories and the emotions associated with them are primary influences on Keith Edmier’s work. Often labeled as a “sentimental realist,” Edmier mines his boyhood recollections for material and then elevates his mundane experiences to heroic proportions. “Jill Peters” is an homage to the artist’s adolescent girlfriend. The figure's pre-pubescent body and white dress conjure common memories of innocent crushes and virginal purity. Immortalized in wax, clothing, and a full head of blond human hair, "Jill Peters" functions not so much a portrait of a particular person as a universalized icon that recalls adolescent angst, something nearly all viewers have experienced and to which they may relate.
Born in Chicago in 1967, Keith Edmier attended the California Institute of the Arts, Valencia.
