Paul Morrison’s monochromatic paintings are a vivid exploration in gesture and form.  Morrison paints trees, flowers and other plant imagery and manipulates traditional notions of perspective and proportion.  In Sweat Leaf, 2003, Morrison depicts a large flat, dandelion whose scale dominates and dwarfs the trees and its surrounding landscape. Morrison is inspired by a variety of sources including botanical woodcuts, biological illustrations and old master drawings by artists such as Albrecht Durer.

Born in Liverpool, England, Paul Morrison received a BFA from Sheffield City Polytechnic in 1988 and an MFA from Goldsmiths College of Art, London, in 1998.
