This type of flask (kendi) is characterized by its lack of a handle. The unique shape appears to have originated in Southeast Asia, and was later adopted by potters in China and Japan. A Chinese-style landscape dominates its main field of decoration, and flowers, vines, clouds, and a dotted cross are painted on its other areas.
