free things for kids to do

Seymour, our monkey mascot for family programs, shows the way to kid-friendly places in the museum. Don't forget, general admission is always free for kids age five and younger!

Just for Fun Family Center

Level 1, North Building

Draw (or scribble), climb on a giant tortoise, disguise yourself as a crocodile, touch a real sculpture, play a game, or just run wild. Open every day, all the time.

Kids Corner

Level 1, North Building
Create a mini-masterpiece, then take it home or hang it in the museum.

 Carlos the Turtle

Seymour as King Tut

Just for Fun Egypt

Level 2, North Building
Dress up like a king or queen from ancient Egypt, make a flower collar, or just lounge under a palm tree and read a book in this kid-friendly space in Duncan Pavilion. Just for Fun Egypt is sponsored by US Bank.

Family Backpacks & Art Tubes

Level 2, North Building
Tromp through the galleries with a backpack filled with art to make, games to play, and puzzles to piece to together. Short on time? Grab an Art Tube instead, and try a bite-sized artmaking activity. Available for checkout at our Family Activity Cart in Duncan Pavilion.

Hotspots

Levels 4 & 6, North Building

Make your own "gold" jewelry and design an Egyptian collar. Available on weekends all year long.  Look for the Hotspots sign, or ask for locations at a welcome center. Hotspots are sponsored by the Children's Hospital.

In the Galleries

Hamilton & North Buildings

You'll find fun stuff for kids throughout the museum. In the Hamilton Building, look for wild western games, an Oceanic puzzle, and African instruments. In the North Building's galleries, you can search for Chinese animals, try on costumes, and much more!
