Please read the information below on our volunteer councils and possible future openings. If you are interested, fill out the online application and give us as much information about yourself as you can. The next Volunteer Recruitment Open House, which was planned for Saturday, January 21, 2012, has been postponed. It has not yet been rescheduled. You will learn about our volunteer program and have a casual volunteer interview. The Denver Art Museum places new volunteers on an as-needed basis and reserves the right to decline volunteer placement.
Our volunteers enjoy serving the public and strive to enrich the museum visitor's experience at the Denver Art Museum. Our volunteers make a huge difference and encourage our visitors to return because the Denver Art Museum is never the same!
Guest Services Council volunteers serve on the front lines of the museum providing current information and great customer service to museum visitors. They enthusiastically assist visitors with information on exhibitions, tours, membership, family activities, way finding, and museum programs. The Guest Services commitment requires two shifts per month on a flexible or fixed schedule for one year and museum membership.
Museum Shop Council volunteers enrich our guest’s experience by showcasing products and merchandise related to exhibits, collections and artists. They assist customers with special requests and offer a unique recommendation which is fun and challenging. These volunteers believe they can add a special touch to the guest’s visit by offering superb customer attention and service. The Shop Council commitment requires two regularly scheduled shifts per month for one year and museum membership.
Flower Council volunteers work as a team to design and create flower arrangements for the museum's welcome area and for special events. The Flower Council commitment requires availability to serve on Monday mornings on a flexible schedule and museum membership.
Education Council (Docent /Tour Guide Program)
If you are interested in being a tour guide/docent, our education department will begin actively recruiting for the provisional docent class in fall of 2012 and will begin interviewing in spring of 2013. Those who are chosen for the class will train from September 2013 through June 2014 and will be required to make a three-year commitment at that time. When you fill out the online application, please specify if you want to be put on the Education Council waitlist ONLY; otherwise we will contact you within one week.
