Asian Art Association Executive Assistant
Position Purpose
- The support group of the Asian Art Department of the Denver Art Museum, The Asian Art Association (AAA), is seeking a part – time Executive Assistant to assume a wide variety of responsibilities relating to the management and administration of this active volunteer group. The Executive Assistant reports directly to the President of the Board of the AAA. However, he or she must also work closely with the Curator and Curatorial staff of the Asian Art Department, the Executive Committee of the AAA, the museum staff and the public.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Attend and take minutes at AAA board meetings, present Executive Assistant’s Report at board meetings, and assist board president and Executive Committee with special projects
- Identify source of incoming funds, correctly code all financial transactions, and deposit funds as required; prepare bills for approval by Treasurer and maintain accounting records as required; pay bills and review monthly reports, and meet with Association Treasurer and museum accounting personnel as necessary
- Maintain current membership Access database and provide statistics based on database and with membership chair, create and send membership correspondence and brochures to new and potential members
- Communicate regularly with the Communications Director (VP, AAA) to assist with and monitor AAA internet communications and with AAA Web manager to assist with and monitor AAA web page
- Organize and manage upcoming events handout material with the President and/or PR director and assist Hospitality chair with catering contracts for events
- Attend all AAA events to manage registration, check RSVP’s when necessary, provide membership material and solicit new memberships as appropriate
- Read and respond appropriately to all AAA correspondence, phone messages and Board requests
- Maintain filing system and perform other duties deemed necessary by the association president or the curator for the benefit of the AAA.
- Light lifting and other tasks as required
Job Qualifications
- Must have excellent verbal and written skills and enjoy interacting with people.
- Must be proficient in computer skills, (Office, Word, Excel and Access).
- Should have a minimum of 5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours.
Education or Formal Training
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.
- Masters or working towards a Masters in museum studies, art history or related field preferred.

Conservator of Textiles
Position Purpose
- To conserve the Denver Art Museum’s broad textile holdings through sound conservation treatments and preventive conservation.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Responsible for the care and conservation treatment of all textiles in collection including quilts and other flat textiles, tapestries, samplers, costume, Pre-Columbian and ethnographic materials
- Assist in the outfitting and development of a new conservation lab for textile treatments.
- Supervise interns and volunteers on appropriate projects.
- Co-teach collections care and conservation at DU.
- Share laboratory management duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
- Ability to create archival storage and exhibition mounts
- Excellent color-matching abilities
- Strong sewing skills
- Ability to use binocular microscope, vacuum suction table, electric sewing machines, and hot table
- Ability to promote the conservation department through research, lectures, professional publications, and teaching
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education or Formal Training
- Advanced degree from a recognized conservation training program or equivalent
Experience
- Minimum of ten years experience is required, preferably working in a museum-based conservation laboratory

Internship - Education Art History Research
Position Purpose
- Education Art History Research Interns will be assigned to complete research on objects in the collection. The Education Department utilizes research done on objects in the collection as a basis for interpretive work as well as to compose informational papers for docent use.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Interns will be responsible for researching objects and writing papers and should have exemplary research and writing abilities.
- Interns will work part-time during the hours of 9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday.
Education or Formal Training
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Art History, Education, Museum Studies, Studio Art or related field.

Internship - Education Interpretation and Exhibition
Position Purpose
- Education Interpretation and Exhibition Interns will assist in development of installed interpretive materials for adults and families related to exhibitions and permanent collections galleries. Areas will include written didactics, use of technology driven tools, interactives for adults, and activities for families and children.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Conducts Art History research on objects in the Permanent Collection.
- Researches current practices relating to interpretive material in other museums.
- Searches for and procures illustrative material for didactics and activities.
- Conducts visitor research including surveys and observations to determine effectiveness of interpretive material.
Education or Formal Training
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Art History, Education, Museum Studies, Studio Art or related field.
Experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Photoshop and scanning.
- Ability to write clearly and effectively.
- Ability to conduct effective research both online and in library.

Internship - Family Programs
Position Purpose
- Family programs are designed to engage families in activities that relate to the art and further exploration and learning through in-gallery interpretive components, summer camps and classes, drop-in activities and events. Intern will be responsible for providing support to Family Programs staff including maintenance of in-gallery activities, support for family events as well as research projects.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Support Family Programs staff with on-site maintenance of in-gallery interpretive components.
- Assist Family Programs staff with planning and execution of family events.
- Assist with visitor research, including conducting visitor observations and surveys.
- Conduct research on specific family audiences within the Metro Denver area.
