Amish Quilts: Kaleidoscopes of Color from the Collection of Faith & Stephen Brown

March 19, 2005–June 19, 2005

The Amish call themselves “plain people.” Yet, some of the utilitarian objects they produce are as colorful and striking as modern art. This contradiction was illustrated in this exhibition of quilts made between 1880 and 1940.
