Allen True's West

October 2, 2009–March 28, 2010

Discover the work of Colorado artist Allen Tupper True in this three-part exhibition presented by the DAM, the Denver Public Library, and the Colorado Historical Museum..

“Allen True is one of Colorado’s premier native-born artists, and his art is as complex as it is enduring,” says Peter Hassrick, former director of the DAM's Petrie Institute of Western American Art. “His decades as an artist spanned illustrating and painting, and his reflections on the American West punctuate our everyday lives in the city of Denver and beyond.”

True worked as an illustrator, easel painter, and muralist. The exhibition includes illustrations at the Denver Public Library, 13 oil paintings at the DAM, and three murals—along with several studies for murals—at the Colorado Historical Society. A walking tour of True's murals throughout downtown Denver accompanies the exhibition.

Allen True's West will continue through March 28, 2010.
