The Masterworks of Charles M. Russell: A Retrospective of Paintings & Sculpture

October 17, 2009–January 10, 2010

The first major retrospective of Charles Marion Russell's work, this exhibition features more than 60 important artworks, including oil paintings, bronze sculpture, and mixed media, plus a selection of personal objects that portray the artist in his own words and images.

Explore the career of this Western legend, and you'll find that Russell was much more than a "cowboy artist." See his studies of life on the frontier—complete with meaningful details like smoke signals, animal tracks, petroglyphs, and natural landmarks—and discover his sensitive portrayals of American Indians and the vanishing beauty of the American wilderness.

The Masterworks of Charles M. Russell is located on level one of the Hamilton Building.
