This event takes place outside of the museum campus. It does not take place at the museum.

Overview

The Denver Art Museum Friendship Powwow is an opportunity to come together and celebrate the diverse Indigenous communities across Denver and the Front Range.

This event will take place at the Denver Indian Center, Inc. at 4407 Morrison Rd in southwest Denver.

This event will feature American Indian Dance competitions, hands-on activities for the whole family, as well as artists and vendor booths.

Food will be provided by Tocabe, an American Indian Eatery.

Powwow Schedule

12 pm—Grand Entry Begins

1 pm—Tiny Tots (0-6 yrs), Combined

1:15 pm—Junior Division (7-12 yrs), Teen Division (13-17 yrs), and Special Contests

  • Girl’s Fancy, Jingle, Traditional
  • Boy’s Fancy, Grass, Traditional

3 pm—Golden Age Division (55+ yrs)

  • Women’s Combined
  • Men’s Combined

3:30 pm—Adult Division (18-54 yrs)

  • Women’s Fancy, Jingle, Traditional
  • Men’s Fancy, Grass, Traditional

*Committee may combine categories depending on number of dancers.

The Annual Friendship Powwow is brought to you by the residents who support the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD).

Masks are required indoors at the Denver Indian Center and for all attendees to the 32nd Annual Friendship Powwow.
