Removing Bad Spray Tans and Fly Specks: Conserving Spanish Colonial Art

Cynthia Lawrence has treated several paintings in the Denver Art Museum's Spanish Colonial collection of art. She will be presenting examples of how conserving these paintings helps to preserve the artist's original intent for the artwork, stabilizing fragile paintings, removing years of dirt and grime and later applied surface coatings, and revealing original colors, beautiful compositional details, and artists' technique and brushwork.

Free for Alianza members, $5 DAM members, $10 others. Purchase tickets at the door.

Sponsored by the Alianza de las Artes Americanas, a DAM support group.
