After living in Shanghai and Beijing for nearly 15 years in the 1980s and '90s, our Salon hosts began collecting contemporary Chinese art they felt best portrayed the profound social changes of the time. Returning to China once a year, they established deep relationships with the artists - often visiting their studios year after year. Their stunning LODO loft was selected for its expansive walls' ability to exhibit large paintings. The collection includes Chen Wenling, Fang Lijun, Jiao Xingtao, Sui Jianguo, Xue Song, Zhang Dali, and Zhong Biao.
The David B. Smith Gallery presents a new exhibition with Molly Dilworth: "(Molly) is a Brooklyn-based artist who views her creative practice as a form of research. Using data from a specific site as a structure, she gives form to things that invisibly motivate our actions. Throughout her practice, Dilworth has partnered with green building community organizations, climate change activists, arts organizations and government agencies to make public art pieces that address our relationship to history, nature and technology."
