Noted scholar and musician Sharmila Roy Pommot grew up at Vishva Bharati University in Shantiniketan, India, which was founded by Rabindranath Tagore (1861‒1941), who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. She studied Tagore’s songs and classical Indian music and her voice has enriched the films of Satyajit Ray, Peter Brook, and others. In her lecture, she will describe Tagore’s creativity in literature, music, and painting.
