Conversation with Curator: Timothy Standring and the Unknown Castiglione

Friday, December 7, 2012 - 4:00pm5:00pm
Hamilton Building - Lower Level
Included in general admission.

Timothy J. Standring, Gates Foundation Curator of Paintings and Sculpture at the DAM, will speak on The Unknown Castiglione: Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll in the 17th Century. His lecture will examine the prints and drawings of Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione (1609-64), perhaps the most innovative and technically brilliant Italian draftsman of his time. Castiglione's turbulent and violent life led him throughout the Italian peninsula, and though he practiced as a painter it was his drawings and prints that ensured his fame.

All Conversations with Curators, which feature lively discussions with different curators on the first Friday of every month, are free with general admission and no reservations are needed. Doors open at 3:30 pm.
