This presentation by Carrie Dennett, Resident Mayer Fellow in the DAM New World Department, explores the nexus between ceramic art and social identities of pre-Columbian Greater Nicoya. Through a combination of archaeological research and iconographic analysis of the Mayer Costa Rica collection at the DAM, aspects of change and continuity are highlighted that provide a unique glimpse into the region's people and complex prehistory.
