Since the announcement in March of the Free for Kids Program, we have seen so many kids enjoying the Denver Art Museum’s exhibitions and programming...for free! Parents and teachers are thrilled. Check out one response we received:

The DAM & Museo de las Americas Present a Mexican Master

The Denver Art Museum is thrilled to be partnering with the Museo de las Americas to present an illuminating exhibition of Gunther Gerzso's work this summer. Gunther Gerzso: A Mexican Master opens at the DAM and the Museo on June 25. The DAM will showcase some of his paintings and the Museo will feature 28 works on paper, four sculptures, and two books celebrating the artist’s career.

The Denver Art Museum recently opened the photography exhibition Alec Soth: Colorado Dispatch. Photographed over the course of a 2013 road trip, Colorado Dispatch presents the core of Soth’s work from the Centennial State, including photographs of ordinary citizens, familiar landscapes and puzzling details of local culture that offer an unromanticized, yet affectionate, view of the land and its people.

Community, Collaboration & Creativity Combine in Aqua-Terra / Terra-Aqua Art Installation

Francisco Alvarado-Juárez’s installation at the Denver Art Museum, Aqua-Terra / Terra-Aqua uses recycled paper from thousands of grocery bags to create a magical world. Unlike his other installations, this one involved collaborating with others. The artist hosted workshops with 30 Denver artists and art teachers in March to demonstrate his process and reveal his vision for the project. The artists, teachers, and their students then set out to paint thousands of bags, later returning to help install the work.

Minnesota photographer Alec Soth’s pictures bring to light the quirkiness and humanity of people he encounters and the places where they live. From 2012–2014, Soth embarked on a series of state-by-state road trips to make a portrait of present-day America. His journey through each state that he visited was printed in a “dispatch” format that calls to mind a small town newspaper or travel guide.
