Don't Miss

USA Today’s 10 Great Family-Friendly Museums—We’re On the List!

We are honored to be included on USA Today’s list of museums that are great for families. Our top-notch education department has been an industry leader for years creating innovative ways to connect families with art. That means the Denver Art Museum is not a place where kids have to be quiet and keep their hands in their pockets. We ARE a place for kids and families to explore new topics together, get messy and create works of art, learn about different cultures around the world, and spark creativity.

Lynn Direking, article author and science and math education professor at Oregon State University, said Denver has done a particularly good job, lending out special backpacks for exploring the galleries. "They have these activities families can pull out. It's about looking at and studying the art," she says.

Calling out our Family Backpack and Art Tube program is great, but don’t miss our in-gallery art projects called Create-n-Takes, our Just For Fun Center with a DAM dollhouse, or our monthly celebration of Latino arts and culture called CelebrARTE.

Visit our Families and Kids page for a full rundown on all of our family offerings. General admission to the museum is free on Free First Saturdays.

Ashley Pritchard is communications and media relations manager at the Denver Art Museum. Ashley has been at the DAM since 2008 and her favorite exhibition that has been on view here is Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective. She gets to peruse the galleries some mornings around 4 am for TV segments and loves having a little quiet time with the art.
