Stretch out your sides because the next Untitled is going to a funny one. Untitled #47 (LOL) on May 25 brings comedians, curators, and cartoonists together to examine the more playful side of art.
Even though their performance is the same night, we convinced the funny guys from the Grawlix comedy show to be part of the evening's events. Adam Cayton-Holland and Andrew Orvedahl will be taking the reins as tour guides, leading visitors on an unpredictable Detour of the collections.
Comedian Ben Roy will be moderating a discussion with Peter McGraw and Joel Warner; the funny fellows from the Humor Code. This self-proclaimed scientist and skeptic travel the globe to figure out the science behind what makes things funny. Hear all about it at their interactive Q&A. They also will be organizing a study (real deal, folks) in the Hub, testing out funny factors on our Untitled visitors, aka subjects.
MakeARTtalk, our monthly series where we invite a local creative to make a new work inspired by the DAM collections, features cartoonist Kenny Be. Be was the editorial cartoonist for the Westword for over 30 years and now has designed a new cartoon just for the DAM. Chat with Kenny Be about his inspiration, process and how cartooning has changed over decades in the biz.
There’s even more happening; music from Native Daughters, Detours with art historian/improv enchantress Giulia Bernardini and DAM’s Gates Foundation Curator of Painting and Sculpture, Timothy Standring. Buntport will be there as always, but funnier than ever. You can view the event listing on our calendar and RSVP on Facebook.
