Know Before You Go: Helpful Tips for Your Visit to Star Wars and the Power of Costume

Here are some tips and guidelines to help you prepare for and enjoy your visit to the Denver Art Museum exhibition Star Wars and the Power of Costume.

TICKETS

Your exhibition ticket is good for one-time entry into the exhibition on the date and time printed on your ticket. Exhibition entry times do sell out, so advance ticket purchase is recommended to guarantee access to the exhibition.

PARKING

The most convenient place to park is the Cultural Center Complex Garage at 12th Avenue and Broadway. Pre-purchase your parking permit online and guarantee your parking space in the Cultural Center Complex Garage, even when it’s marked full or closed(quantities are limited). To purchase a one-time use ePermit for the garage, visit CulturalParking.com.

BAGS/BACKPACKS

For the safety and comfort of visitors and the protection of the objects, please store the following items in a locker before entering the galleries:

  • All backpacks
  • Bags and purses larger than 13” x 17” x 8”
  • Oversized/bulky coats

Free lockers are available on Level 1 and the Lower Level of both buildings.

COSTUMES & ACCESSORIES

Want to dress like your favorite character? We love it! However, please keep in mind that lightsabers and similar items aren't allowed (but you can check them in a locker).

Also, please leave masks at home, as they are not allowed in the museum. A little bit of face paint is fine (for example, a design around an eye or on a cheek), but full face paint is not allowed.

WHEELCHAIRS, STROLLERS, CANES, ETC.

The DAM strives to be accessible to everyone. Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome in the museum and galleries and may be borrowed from the welcome centers. Scooters and motorized wheelchairs also are permitted, as are canes and walkers that convert to stools. You may also use the museum-provided gallery stools (available at the exhibition entry).

SKETCHING

You are welcome to write or sketch with a graphite pencil in notebooks 11” x 14" or smaller. Please refrain from using ink pens or other writing utensils.

PHOTOGRAPHY

We are a photography-friendly museum, and photography without a flash for personal use is permitted. Please do not use tripods, monopods, or similar equipment in the galleries. Use the hashtag #StarWarsCostumes to see what others are sharing online.

FOOD AND DRINK

Please do not have any food or drink in the galleries. The Callahan Café in the Hamilton Shop on level one is a great place to buy and enjoy drinks and snacks.

QUESTIONS?

If you have any questions, feel free to ask at the museum welcome center on levels one of each building, or ask in advance by calling 720-913-0130. Volunteers and staff throughout the museum are also happy to help.

We look forward to your visit!
